Dussehra or Vijayadashami Celebrations in India with burning of effigy of Ravana
Every year Dussehra
is celebrated on the tenth day of Ashvin month.
It starts with the celebrations of Navaratri (the nine holy days) and on
the tenth day Dussehra comes. It is believed
that lord Rama along with the army of monkeys attacked the Kingdom of Lanka, to
get Goddess Sita freed from the clutches of Demon King Ravana. This fight went
on for ten days and on tenth day at the time of sunset, Lord Rama executed
Demon King Ravana also the king of Kingdom of Lanka. This epic battle is called as win of good
over evil. And this day is celebrated by
Hindus by burning the effigies of Demon King Ravana, his brother Kumbkarana,
and his son Megnath.
It is
believed that on this day Pandavas also won the epic battle of Mahabharata. And on this day the nine days festivities of
Navratri come to end which is believed by Hindus the period of Nine-day fight
of Goddess Durga with Demon Mahishasura.
In North-India
people eat Jalebis a local sweet after the burning of effigies of Demon King
Ravana. In rural areas the “Ramleela” is
organized. Which is depiction of various events of Ramayana and epic battle of
Ramayana. The festival of Dussehra is celebrated
in different regions of India in different ways. But it is celebrated in grand way in Mysore,
a district in Southern state of Karnataka.
Mainly
this festival is celebrated as mark of win of good over evil. And after twenty
days of Dussehra comes the festival of Deepawali.
Deepawali-2020
Deepawali-Festival of Lights
This
year official date of Deepawali or Diwali is 14th of November. Deepawali is celebrated after 20 days of
Dushera Festival. It is believed as per Ramayana a holy book of Hindus that on
the day of Dushera Lord Rama slayed “Ravana”, Demon King of Lanka. In ordered
to free Goddess Sita from the clutches of Demon king Lord Rama attacked Lanka
with the army monkeys and defeated the big army of Lanka and was able to free
Goddess Sita, who was abducted by the Ravana the demon king. And after freeing Goddess Sita, Lord Rama
returned to Ayodhya his kingdom along with brother Laxmana and Goddess Sita. It took hi 20 days to complete this journey
and on the day of Deepawali he arrived in Ayodhya. In order to welcome Lord Rama in Ayodhya
whole city was lit with earthen lamps known as diyas. Also, Lord Rama has
completed his 14 years of exile in forest to fulfill a promise given by his father
to his step mother. And as Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years this
festival is mark of respect to Lord Rama for all the hardships, he has gone through
to fulfill the promise made by his father.
And that’s why the name Deepawali which literally means row of earthen
lamps. And from that day to this day
every year Diwali is celebrated in this manner to welcome Lord Rama. As Diyas are lit every where on this day, the
festival is also called ‘Festival of Lights’.
This
festival is celebrated with much fanfare all across India. It is day of joy and excitement for Hindus. It is one of biggest religious festival of India
and especially North India. Now-a-days people
instead of diya also use electric bulb or chain of small electric bulbs called
as ‘ladi’ in Hindi. Much before this day
approaches people clean and white wash their house. People and children make merry. Gifts and sweets are exchanged by
people. Young children burn fireworks
and crackers, wear new clothes and eat sweets to celebrate. In south India it is that peace on the earth
is dawned on this day.
But
there is downside also as some people drink alcohol and gamble to celebrate. Which has become social evil. And also, due to burning of crackers many burning
and fire accidents are there. Then due
to burning of crackers lot of air-pollution is caused. Therefore, Government is advising people to
maintain restraint and celebrate Diwali alcohol free and cracker free. But these things do not dampen the spirit of Diwali.
Many
people also worship goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha on this day at night time
to bring peace and prosperity in their life as it is believed that goddess Lakshmi
visit people’s house this day and remains there if she is please with prayers.

Under Graduation is essential for any
executive jobs. And if you are eyeing
high paid corporate job, then adding M.B.A. in your C.V. is most
important. Requirement for M.B.A. is any
graduation. Any person who has done
graduation in any field can pursue M.B.A..
Presently M.B.A. (Marketing) is on top.
But this keeps on changing from time to time. M.B.A. (Finance) is also in very high demand
and M.B.A. (Human Resources) is also good.
For example
:- someone who has done Engineering from Chemical can very easily do M.B.A. (Marketing).
Hence, do
not pass time waiting for last date and use this pandemic period as an opportunity and change you
outlook and career path.

New Product Development
New Product Development
Significance of New Product Development
• New Product development is one of
the most important components of product policy and product management. It is not enough if the existing product
lines and products are appraised properly.
Products are positioned effectively and brand decisions are taken
wisely. A progressive firm must always
consider new product development as a cardinal element of its product
policy.
Reasons of New Product Development
- New Products become necessary
for meeting the Changes in Demands.
- New Products become necessary
for Making New Profits.
- To counter threats arising from
environment.
- To prevent sudden extinction.
- To avoid economic stagnation.
- To beat competition.
Idea Screening
• The purpose of screening is to spot
& drop poor ideas as early as possible.
The rationale is that product development costs rise substantially at
each successive development stage. When
products reach later stages, management often feels that they have invested so
much in developing the product that it should be launched to recoup some of the
investment. The real solution is to not
let poor product ideas get this far.
Concept
Development & Testing
• Concept Development:- During this stage, the ‘idea on the paper’ is
turned into a ‘product in hand’. In
other words, the idea is converted into a product that is producible and
demonstrable. This stage is also termed
as ‘Technical Development’. It is during
this period that all developments of the product, from idea to final physical
form, take place.
Concept
Testing
• Concept testing calls for testing
for testing these concepts with an appropriate group of target consumers. The concepts may be presented symbolically or
physically. At this stage, a word and/or
picture description suffices, although the reliability of a concept test
increases, the more concrete and physical the stimulus. The consumers are presented with an
elaborated version of each concept. Then
they are asked to react. Based on the
reactions, decisions are arrived at.
Business
Analysis
• Once management develops the product
concept and a marketing strategy, it can evaluate the business attractiveness
of the proposal. Management must review
the sales, cost and profit projection to determine whether they satisfy the
company’s objectives. If they do, the
product concept can move to the product development stage. As new information comes in, there will be
further revision of the business analysis.
Product Development
• Three steps are involved in the
product-development stage: Prototype
Development & Consumer Testing, Branding & Packaging.
Test Marketing
Test
marketing is a form of risk control and ensures avoidance of costly business
errors. It is a controlled marketing
experiment with minimum possible cost and risk; to decide the soundness and
feasibility of full-fledged marketing of the product. If the results received from the test
marketing are positive and encouraging, the firm may go ahead with the
commercial production and marketing of the new product.
Commercialisation
• The following activities are usually
undertaken during this stage:-
- Completing final plans for
production and marketing.
- Initiating coordinated
production and marketing.
- Checking results at regular
intervals.
• During Commercialisation, the
following questions are to be answered.
- When to launch new Product
(Timing).
- Where to launch the Product
(Geographical Strategy).
- To whom the product should be
aimed at (Target Market).
- How to launch the product
(Introductory Market Strategy).
How to solve the Problems of New Product Failure?
- By ensuring that there is
adequate demand for the product.
- By
making a product that is acceptable to the society.
- By
selecting a product that would exactly fit into the existing market
structure of a company.
- By
using continuous and efficient demand creation methods.
- By
selecting a product that should reflect the company’s image already
created, especially with regard to quality and price.
Product Elimination
• There are some products which cannot
be improved or modified to suit the market.
Here, the profitable alternative would be to withdraw the product. The process of withdrawal is technically
known as “product Elimination”.
