Essay on Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru-First Prime Minister of India
Pt.
Jawaharlal Nehru was the son of Pt. Moti Lal Nehru, a famous lawyer. Pt. Nehru was a great Indian leader. He was born in Allahabad on November 14,
1889. He had his early education at
home. He went to England for higher
studies. Then he returned to India. Here he came under the influence of Mahatma
Gandhi. Pt. Nehru took part in Indian
independence movement, in order to gain freedom for our country from the
British Rule. In 1929, he became
President of Indian National Congress, and was sent jail many times and faced
many hardships. He spent most of his
time in Indian jails. While in jail, Pandit Nehru wrote many letters to his
daughter and asked her to read the books he wrote sitting in a lonely cell in
jail. He was great freedom fighter. He became the first Prime Minister of free
India. He loved children and his birthday is celebrated all over India as
children’s day. Children called him “ Chacha Nehru”.
