Recognition of Distance Education Degrees Abroad
There are several Distance Education Courses available in India offered by several University. Top Universities which are offering Distance Education Courses are I.G.N.O.U., Annamalai University, Delhi University, Karnataka State Open University, Madras University to name a few. But the question in every mind who has either completed the course or doing the course or planning to join the course is that, whether course he has done is Valid abroad or not.
Well answer to this question is Yes, if the University is State University or Central University and if the University course is affiliated to University Grants commission then no need to worry about it. As all Universities are having recognition of courses on reciprocal basis. Which is in form of M.O.U., signed by Government of India with foreign Universities and Government bodies.
Any foreigner who is coming to India for doing a course in India before getting admission in any Indian University has to get a certificate from the Association of Indian University. Regarding recognition of his University and Course (only Nepal) is exempted from it. Similarly Association of Indian Universities & Ministry of Human Resources of Development (Government of India) has agreement with bodies of foreign Universities for Recognition of courses on Reciprocal basis. (i.e. you recognise our Universities and courses and we recognise yours).
For this whenever one is applying for a Job or Higher Education course in Foreign Universities he has to get Genuine Certificate from the University concerned. i.e., from the University that he has done the course. This certificate is given by the University concerned in a sealed envelope directly to the foreign University or the Foreign Employer who has sent the query.
For this Genuine Certificate, Candidate must pay in dollars to the University concerned according to fees they charge. Hence, one should be concerned about University and Courses, offered by them is Recognised by University Grants Commission. And not about the Foreign University or Foreign Employer.
